This is the
first in a series of great split releases. When I bought this I was heavily
into Avail and Hot Water Music and had herd good things about Leatherface. I
figured this would be prefect, 5 Hot Water Music tunes and 6 tunes will be enough
of a first taste of this Leatherface band.
Turns out
that Leatherface are insanely good. I don’t think anyone’s voice can be more gravely
and weathered than Frankie Stubbs’. Coming from Sunderland
in North East England, they sound like Hüsker Dü being dragged through gravel.
Raw, raspy and full of melody. I really need to get more of Leatherface’s
releases!
Leatherface
almost eclipse Hot Water Music’s side of things. Their 5 songs are powerful and
passionate. Everything you want and expect from Hot Water Music. They will have
you singing along in a matter of seconds.
If you love
gruff and melodic punk rock then this is the record for you!
